What we use

uid — cookie
A random anonymous id, so the site can show you your own chats and nobody else's. It is not your name, and it is not shared with anyone. Lasts up to 12 months. Essential — without it the site cannot keep your conversations separate from other people's.
Theme preference — local storage
Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. Stays on your device; never sent anywhere. Until you clear it.
Draft & interface state — local storage
Keeps small bits of interface state — such as an unsent message draft — so you do not lose them on reload. Stays on your device. Until you clear it.
Notice state — local storage
Remembers that you have dismissed a one-off banner, so we do not show it again. Stays on your device. Until you clear it.
Analytics — cookie / pixel
Counts visits and page views through our own analytics, on our own infrastructure. It is not Google Analytics and not an ad network; nothing is shared with third parties. It never sees the content of your conversations.

What we do NOT use

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings. If you clear the uid cookie, the site simply stops linking you to your past chats — nothing breaks, you just start fresh.

Because we use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, there is nothing here to "opt out" of in the ad-tech sense.
